When in Cabadbaran City....

One of the contemporary coffee shops in the City is Duyog Cafė.  "Duyog" which roughly translates in English as to "Accompany, be together,  or simultaneously" is a fitting name for this cozy bistro where one may leisurely enjoy coffee, cold drinks, and light snacks with friends or family.

 

The decor may be austere but there are some interesting artworks and personal memorabilia of the owner's childhood I surmise.  But who cares when one is there for the latest of friends, a good laugh, and the menu.

The cold non-coffee-based beverages are highly recommended.  I tried their all-day breakfast which I find to be satisfying.  With the toast, instead of the fried rice, there was strawberry jam, not the usual dab of butter. But I wish I had an extra serving of the jam which I prefer to neutralize whatever oily after-taste of the sausage there is.

 

Speaking of the sausage I simply love it as it tastes more like my favorite Chorizo de Bilbao, particularly that it was fried just right.  Surprisingly, I was informed that it was of a brand that I ignore in supermarkets in favor of my other favored Polish Kielbasa.

It was my first "all-day breakfast" with a dessert provided, a slice of mango.  A fork and knife is the norm but a dessert spoon to scoop the mango flesh is recommended.

 

Overall, "mag duyog na ta didto, para sa dugaaay na tabian".

THE LORENZO DAGANI CLAN OF CABADBARAN CITY, AGUSAN DEL NORTE, AND GARCIA-HERNANDEZ, BOHOL

The Daganis have its roots in Garcia-Hernandez in Bohol Province. It's said that the original name was "Dagami", meaning "grass, fodder, or hay", but later evolved to Dagani. 

Prominent was Fidel Curato Dagani, Cabadbaran's Presidente Municipal (Mayor) from 1925 to 1928, and the son of Presidente Municipal Antonio Cabonce Dagani and Doña Segunda Aznar Curato. His grandparents were Don Gabriel Dagsalio (Dagsario) Dagani (from Garcia-Hernandez, Bohol), and Doña Potenciana Acero Cabonce. 

His great-grandparents were Cabeza Francisco Ranario Dagani and Doña Victoria Dagsalis Dagsario, and Great-great grandparents were Cabeza Juan Pedro Dagani & Doña Victoria Maria Ranario (Sourced from Genealogy de Bohol). The Dagani Clan in Cabadbaran has expanded through inter-marriages with other clans that include the Ategas, Mortolas, Curatos, Cabonces, Villanuevas, and Malbas, from which emerged many prominent figures in politics and the arts.  

Distinguished in the arts is Veronica Mortola Atega-Nable, one of the pioneer dancers of the Bayanihan Dance Troupe which she joined at age 19 while a student at the Philippine Women's University, the home of the cultural dance group founded by its Chair, Helena Z. Benitez. In 1961 she was crowned Miss Fil-Am Fiesta held at Subic Naval Base, with American Actor Paul Newman as her escort. Her court included Amalia Fuentes, Adorable Liwanag, and Lourdes Medel. She also earned other beauty titles and became a favorite photo cover of major magazines and the Bayanihan Dance Group Albums. 

Nang Veth, to her younger relatives, is the only child of Pedro "Perok" Atega (son of Don Andres Atega y Azura Sr.) and Adela Dagani Mortola-Atega, (Daughter of Don Adolfo Mortola y Cabrera) who herself is a beauty queen in her own right. 

In the undated Lorenzo Dagani Clan group photo, she's the one in dark clothes seated on the left up front. Other descendants of the Lorenzo Dagani Clan have excelled in their respective fields such as in the academe, government service, business, politics, and family life.
