Since college, my spelling is just that terrible (plus the handwriting) which teachers complain of. Only recently has it dawned upon me that just seeing 4 letters is enough for my brain to process it into a complete word, a process repeated in writing.

With AMBO nearby, it’s back to basics when power is down and has to save on solar batteries, and the Chewbaccas are scared of the rain and wind. Back to the antique kerosine lamp and aneroid barometer that shows only a slight drop in atmospheric pressure since this morning.

Yung mga panelista de palakpak naman puro “so well written.”
Bagamat para sa iba ang paksa ay pang weekly assignment lang, pero kailangan din ang wastong pagsusuri at para sa wastong polisiya sa GQC o MECQ lalong lalo na sa isyu ng mga SC.

Lucky to be COVID-free yet able to hear eulogies otherwise reserved for the dead. Thank you for the simple but meaningful tribute though some have to be in Zoom. I love our cast of Lion King and Jekyll & Hyde singing “One Day in Your Life” by Michael Jackson. One thing to miss is our annual musical plays competition. The tears shed will always be cherished, and the comment that he is lucky to be the only one that didn’t get my brand of reprimand.

It is rewarding that many of my friends and former colleagues at this time are still calling or sending messages of thanks to appreciating the time I have worked with them and to be assured of my continuous help.
Of course, I will and I’m just an SMS away. As your song goes, “Just call my name, and I'll be there.”
Thank you too that up to the last hours you still trust me to call about your concerns, be it legal, administrative, etc.
That makes my bowing out not easy, and to some, I opted not to say goodbye, especially the security and janitorial personnel. You, I will also not forget.
Visiting the Office as many say will be a lot different not finding me there. Fret not and just follow the good that you say I have done, and then there will be many me through each one of you.
When I joined the office on December 10, 1986, I did not intend to stay longer and to re-join the private sector, but just to honor a friend’s request that I will be there. The pay then was not much compared to private employment but the “FAMILY” I found was all worth it, not counting the opportunity to serve people in my own humble way.
Thank you for accepting my infusion of the work ethics and practices in the private sector with the then-stereotyped government service.
Again, thank you for your serenade. Of course, I will always remember you all for no one forgets true friendship and throw away precious memories.
ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE
By Michael Jackson
One day in your life
You'll remember a place
Someone touching your face
You'll come back and you'll look around, you
One day in your life
You'll remember the love you found here
You'll remember me somehow
Though you don't need me now
I will stay in your heart
And when things fall apart
You'll remember one day
One day in your life
When you find that you're always waiting
For a love we used to share
Just call my name, and I'll be there
You'll remember me somehow
Though you don't need...

Many have wrong concepts of HUMAN RIGHTS. It is not an absolute shield but only a guarantee that substantive and legal processes are observed without being oppressive nor demeaning or violative of the basic rights of a person.
Full enforcement of the laws for the protection of the rights of others or curtailing criminality or preventing the occurrence thereof is not repression. Many times in my lectures I have emphasized how this erroneous concept of human rights runs counter to legitimate law enforcement.
We should all remember that our rights end where the rights of another begin, more so that the law is still the law no matter how harsh it is. DURA LEX SED LEX. Human rights is never meant to frustrate the full enforcement of the law. Good morning everyone.

True, the concept of the CHR is to safeguard the public from the abuses of the government and its agents or instrumentalities. Closing an obscene and offensive exhibit isn't censorship. It's propriety. In one art exhibit 2 of my nude & erotically explicit paintings and of another artist were taken down on the day when nuns and girls from an exclusive girls high were to visit. MALDITO PA RIN. In this afternoon's infra development committee meeting, I criticized a rail project proposal for a line on which trains could travel at a maximum speed of 500 kph, and with amenities like a spa, ATM, and resto. I said proposals should be realistic as Japan's bullet train runs only at 300 kph, and they don't have spas or ATM terminals as proposed. Why the additional expense for a superstructure when all we need at the moment is an efficient system to at least move cargo to ease truck traffic at AH26. Somebody commented that it's free to dream. And the proposal to re-orient a runway which to my mind would instead cross directly an obstruction and not so with the prevalent wind directions. Nice to be a devil's advocate.

True artist have that strange universality of ideas, of inspiration, of strokes of genius that binds them to transgress imaginary boundaries, that similarities of works does not ipso facto imply plagiarism. This is the reason why musical scores have these coincidental parts, literary works weave with others and I am not exempt from these coincidences. I once read a poem that many believed, including myself, that I have written it. But no. The person that has written it under a pseudo name and I have just but a common literary style and heartache. Works of art convey sentiments that stir sensitive souls rather than elicit debates which non-artists often succumb to. Artists never copy and neither do they die. They just fade into eternity through their works.

Traveling for over 24 hours from Bicol to Ilocos Norte may be tiring but comforted by the prospects of taking nighttime photos of the heritage site. This though was however dampened by the heavy rains starting as far back from Narvacan. But the puddles of rainwater added more drama to the cobblestones of Calle Crisologo, the rain made the whole place glisten, taking back our soul to an era of the grandeur of what Calle Crisologo was before our time. And the rain had also driven away the "selfie stick-wielding tourists" that would otherwise muddle the solemnity of the place. At midnight the moon rose and hours later replaced by the sun. Visiting the place is best at almost midnight and as early as 5:00 am in the morning. The transition of light in a past era beyond chorizos de Vigan, bagnets, burnay jars and empanaditas.

The problem with people who discourse about human rights is that they focus so much on the rights of individuals and not on the rights of collectives. Some even are already unaware that they end up privileging the convenience and agenda of criminals and terrorists over the safety of the collective.

TYPHOON NINA AFTERMATH
Whoever is behind the rumor that power in the energized portions of Albay is but temporary are but fools obviously out to discredit APEC and the local governments of Legazpi and Albay and cause anxiety among us. I have not read any such advisories from APEC, NGCP, and concerned LGUs. Ang sabi "restored" ang power so hindi temporary. Reminds me of the scare campaign after typhoon Reming. Kakainis lang, no?
After Typhoon Nina I can't help but recall what happened after Typhoon Reming in 2006 while Nina was stronger Reming devastated Albay and hundreds died. But it's not about the magnitude of this and that but how some people tried to take advantage of the situation that the Regional Center and the LTO be transferred to Naga City or Pili in Cam Sur where it is safer. In fact there was a scare campaign that Legazpi will sink, Mayon will collapse etc etc. But with Nina, nobody could argue that a place is ever safe from natural calamities. It is only in God's mercy that we are safe. Dai na tabi mag para pinaslo na gabos na lang darahon kun sain.

UNGRATEFULNESS
In a fast food resto at breakfast, I overheard an old guy blaming the PDRRMC for allegedly overreporting the magnitude of Typhoon Nena and scaring the people but almost nothing happened. Instead of being stupid, he should be thankful that there was the least damage, that there was almost no rain, no floods, etc and everyone was safe. That was a miracle. "Matandang nagmamagaling ngunit hangal", so said St. Paul the Apostle. (Next time he should be tied in a typhoon's path para feel na feel nya ang advisories).

FOODS AND LOOKS
People could still be too judgmental of appearance. This evening, in paint-stained slippers and wearing no watch or jewelry, we went to a local fast-food outlet for a quick meal as I was too tired to cook. It took almost an hour before I was served while those in skinny jeans and cheap bangles were served first when I placed my order ahead of them. I thought I really looked so shabby. But no. When I passed a car dealer's display the sales guy said to me, "Sir, would you be interested?"

EXERCISE AND AGEING
One thing I like about malling is that I get to exercise sans dust and smog. it's also where I get insights on the hows and whys of life, like realizing that it's cheaper to be overweight. There are many good clothes on sale but none fits me. So less expense as I don't have to buy. I shop in U.K. More practical and it fits.
Come to think of it. Gaining age and weight doesn't exactly diminish our capabilities of doing things we do when we're younger. Last month I drove almost nonstop for 16 hours and back (Legazpi-Manila-Legazpi). This afternoon at 2,300 ft above sea level altitude I ran up 60+ steps and instead of gasping for breath I had that feeling of relief after. Why? No choice. The bathroom was that high and I'll pee on my pants If I don't run over them steps.

SHARED THOUGHTS
Just some thoughts as we enter the Christmas season. It is important to remember that not everyone is looking forward to Christmas. Some people are not surrounded by large wonderful families. Some of us are having problems during Christmas and may be overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. For many, it is their first Christmas without a particular loved one and many others lost loved ones at this time. And, many people have no one to spend these times with and are overcome with loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now. If I don't see your name, I'll understand. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly post this status for one hour to give a moment of support to all those who are having family troubles, health struggles, job issues, or worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares? Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I did it for a friend and you can too!

ON EJK
If one is against "extra-judicial killing" and the death penalty on moral grounds, then he/she should likewise be against the distribution or promotion of abortifacients and contraceptives. Killing life in all stages or preventing it is still murder. Rejecting one and tolerating the other is POLITICAL. Rejecting all is moral uprightness.

Last December 1, 2016, while driving on the south lane of Imelda C. Roces the car ahead of me didn't move on even if the traffic light has already turned green. I thought the driver had a heart attack or something but we found out he just fell asleep. MORAL: Time to calibrate the traffic light at that intersection. Free flow is too long on the eastbound traffic while heavy saturation is on the northbound.
Calibration should be done regularly to account for changes in traffic volume with several days averaging of survey results, and not before the signaling device is installed.
----
Unintentionally I made this study on FB trends and behavioral patterns. With a sample size of 1,000 accounts, those who regularly take selfies and post them 89.56% of their friends are equally addicted. American psychologists consider this as a behavioral deviation. I guess this is a manifestation of Narcissistic personality disorder, the extraordinary or egoistic admiration of self, or need for attention which in Pilipino means KSP or Kulang Sa Pansin. The pattern is prevalent among students (who still have a lot to prove of their worth) and a low percentage among the middle age group. I will do further validation once Starbucks Ayala Malls Legazpi opens. See you there.
